Attack of the Machines
It never rains but it pours. Snow filled the driveway. The car S gave me is in the shop getting winterized. I tried to inflate the tubeless tires on the snow blower to make it operable, but didn’t have the air pressure needed to make the sidewalls tight, so I tried latex fix-a-flat in a can. That didn’t work either; not enough goop. Well, I thought, I can use the air hose at the c-store. But then W was out and about, took the van. A belt was thrown and the power-steering went out. She came home and wedged the van into the snow in the driveway. I tried to ignore it so I could get some work done, but she went ballistic. I shoveled the van out, but found the battery was dead. I had to walk her to the church, just to be sure she was okay after the blow-up. Then I went back and charged the battery. After a few hours, I backed the van out of the driveway, hauled the snow-blower down the driveway 400′ in a foot and a half of powder, loaded the snow-blower, and went to the c-store. On the way, the battery went south. Duh. No belts. The c-store air hose didn’t have enough pressure to start the tires either. So I abandonded the van, and walked home, in my pajamas. I wasn’t sure I was even going to make it, as my legs weren’t operating correctly according to command, until I got out of the wind. Exhausted, I lay down on the bed next to W, who then tells me all the things I did wrong. Yeah, right. I am not pleased.
Now W has shut herself in the bathroom. I sure would like to take a shower.
Tomorrow I have to bright and early get the van towed to the shop, get tubes for the blower tires, load the blower in the wagon, come home with the wagon, put tubes on the blower tires, blow the driveway, and then go get the van before the shop closes at 5. Meanwhile, I have to do about a week’s worth of software work every day, and tomorrow is no exception.
I sure would like a little help now and then.
