New Job

Starting a new job, new challenges, new opportunities.  I’m planning to use the Development Log to track notes and progress.  Comments are solicited.

Task 1: Latent Semantic Analysis

This task is a bit ambiguous since my commandante is vague so far about requirements.  That’s okay, I can run with it, because it’s cool and fun.  LSA feeds a GA which breeds FSMs, so the GA requirements on the LSA are that it should create an approximately orthogonal structure to span the problem description space.  This insures that, given a sufficiently complete description, when there is a solution to the problem, the accessible parts of the problem solution space are all reachable.  Of course in a coevolutionary system, where the rules for the interpretation of the solution representiation as a solution instance are dynamic, the subspace of the solution space which is being investigated changes with changing rulesets.

The existing models of LSA and LDA are well suited to the requirements placed on the LSA by the GA.  However, there may be requirements imposed by the semantic network structures which are not yet evident.  Commandante sez “Probabilistic Generative Models”, but all I see there is the Larsen stuff about image analysis.  It’s hard to see what he’s getting at.  Hopefully he’ll clarify pronto.

Simultaneously, I’m polishing the Ajax reverse proxy daemon for N.  My real job is with N for the rest of the week.  I’m trying out nginx as a stand-in for rphd until I have it fully polished.
